Pull over for emergency vehicles

If you see an emergency vehicle approaching, pull off to the side of the road as soon and as safely as possible. Stay 500 feet behind emergency vehicles – it is the law. These trucks often must back into areas, stop or make quick manuevers without notice. If a truck needs to stop and you are behind it, you could cause the truck to be blocked in. Do not pass an emergency vehicle if it appears stopped for an unknown reason. It may be turning around or backing into an unknown area. Be patient. Failure to yield to an emergency vehicle is against the law.
