In July 1963, a group of men from Little Hocking, Ohio decided to pursue the organizing of a fire protection service to Belpre and Decatur townships. With equipment acquired from area fire departments the idea became a reality. The first station was owned by an area businessman and was a temporary home before a permanent station could be completed in 1966. Since then, an addition to the station was added and in 1983, emergency medical service was started.
