Little Hocking Fire & Rescue officially began providing dive rescue and recovery operations to Belpre and Decatur Townships in 1997. Since that time, with the cooperation and support of the Washington County Sheriff's Department, we have transformed into the county-wide dive team. Our team originally consisted of divers from the fire department and sheriff's department.

Our personnel come from a varied line of occupations and dive experience. All divers are certified through recognized organizations and with continued certification in rescue & recovery. One diver is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician. All support personnel are fire department members. Support personnel consist of shore support, line tenders, boat operators, and underwater communications specialists. We use O.T.S. hard-wired communications thus giving us a teatherline and communications in one. Our shore support personnel usually consists of a communications specialist, 2 Emergency Medical Technicians, and 2 fire department personnel to assist with equipment set-up, logistics, and scene safety. Our team has made dives for evidence recovery ranging from guns to automobiles and body recoveries from single drowning to multiple drownings.
